So with some help here's the solution for any wandering google results friends and what have you.

The .nds file updates the firmware, the rest is the kernel.

This is the official kernel gotten from www.r4i-gold.com (now dead) through Wayback Machine, for the curious.

There is also that link ^ incase the above ones ever disappear, but I didn't try this one myself.

    Original post:

So I got this sucker secondhand on ebay (I know, but I'm not too worried thanks to that buyer protection)

It appears as prince caspian on the 3DS home menu with wood v1.64 stuck into the SD, but hits the white screen with a memory card shape and a ?. But when my friend gave me the contents of his SD to copy/paste into mine it gets beyond that into a Loading... screen but is stuck on that.

And here are the contents of the folder:

    Any idea?

Not sure how to edit the title with a [FIXED] but I've updated the post with how this was solved.

BTW there seems to be some trouble or something within the team. You might find (newer) links/files at http://r4i-gold.me/ .

That's great to know. My R4 has been fine, so I don't know if I care to upgrade but I'll check it out

It's probably wise to create a backup of the SD anyways before installing new files.
