I've been trying to set a LayeredFS patch for a JPN cartridge game to translate it using the EUR romfs files. Try it out with 2 games (Zelda A Link Between Worlds & Mario & Luigi 1) but the result is the same: Arm11 exception - perfetch abort - Translation Section.

Any ideas to solve it?

For starters, this should be in the 3DS forum, not the DS forum.

And secondly, have you read anything anywhere to suggest this is supposed to work? Different regions can easily end up with distinctly different versions of the same game and there is no reason to expect they can be instantly translated just by swapping around some files in the romfs.

I read about in this forum but I coudn't get much information about. I'm aware it's not that simple like drag some files around but the post I mention gives no clues.

if you're only substituting the romfs then I'd consider at least also replacing exefs... but there is no guarantee that even this would work, because I dont think layeredfs was meant to be used in that way. it might not be able to replace everything that needs to be replaced, for a game to be turned into a different one

Can you provide a link to the specific thread, or at least the name of the specific thread since I guess you can't post links yet?

There are hacks where files in the romfs are replaced with specifically-altered versions, but as I said, you shouldn't expect that to work with official files from commercially-released games.

This is the thread title: Extracting script files from English RomFS to create English LayeredFS patch for Japanese cartridges
