Hacking Getting a slim ps3 into service mode Help

Hi All,

I have a slim ps3 which has the e3 flasher installed.
Im following the guide which says "
Enter the factory mode following the standard downgrade procedure (quickly press the eject button after pressing power button). PS3 will automatically switch off after a while. "

But for the life of me can not make this happen.
I have a ps3key but im sure it does not work on 3.73.
I have read about people buying the e3 card reader or using the ps3jig on the psp.
I tried the ps3jig but could not get it to work.
Hoping someone can help me.

the "downgrade procedure" is not quickly press eject after power. This procedure is for booting a console in jailbreak mode when using an USB dongle on 3.41 and less.


The downgrade procedure talked here refer to the way to enter the factory menu:
1. switch on your PS3 and with the controller, select the menu on XMB to "power off" the console.
2. Press and KEEP pressing the power button. the PS3 will power ON, you will hear 2 BIP sound, and the PS3 will shut down itself. Release the power button now.
3. Press and KEEP pressing the power button (yes, again, like on step2), this time it will boot on a new menu. Release the power button and follow the onscreen procedure to go to the downgrade menu (reinstall firmware etc.).


You will need a firmware on your USB drive.

PS: I don't remember if step 1 is required, but it's not a problem to do it.

get any dongles out there and reprogram the doongle with Service Mode payload. Once you have that, just load that doongle on your PS3 and press "Power and Eject".

E3 Flasher does not contain this kind of doongle on their package so you might want to buy a cheap knock off PS3 Jailbreak doongle for that.

I have the ps3key but once programmed does not go into service mode.
Cyan i will try what you say and will let you know.
I then use level 2 to get out of service mode is this correct?

maybe I'm wrong and you are really talking about the lv2diag.self downgrade procedure?
I thought that this file couldn't be used on 3.56+ (you can't exit that mode).

I'll have to read more infos on the downgrade with E3Flasher.

Thanks cyan i got it all working after 18hrs and alot of messing around.
Im going on holidays and when i get back i will write a guide for the e3 in easy to understand english.
