I wouldn't get either console right now. Wait until the holiday season and get a 3DS bundle with some games.

It's already possible to buy a 3DS + ocarina of time bundle for 310,48$ (thats cheap in sweden since considering that the 3ds alone costed 378,82 before the price drop)

I'm 44 years old. If anyone should get eyestrain from the 3DS, it'd be me. I've been playing OOT for hours at a time with the 3D full-on, and no problems whatsoever.

I would still wait.

During the holiday season, it's pretty much a guarantee that Nintendo will introduce a new bundle and by that time, some good games will be out (Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D, etc.).

I think both the 3DS and PSVita are/will be great.
I already have a 3DS and will probably buy a PSVita too (not right away though. I'll probably wait for a year or something)
The 3DS will have a lot of fun games like on the DS like TWEWY, 999, Professor Layton, Ace Attorney and Mario games.
And the PSVita will be better for more mature (read violent) and graphically beautiful games like God of War, MGS, Final Fantasy and FPS games. (not that the 3DS has bad graphics but those of PSVita will probably be better)
I wouldn't say that the PSVita will be more powerful then the PS3 because that would be quite impossible with current technology.

This is my opinion:
3DS: good 1st party titles, mostly for fun and not very hardcore gamers
Vita: great 3rd party, mainly for mature and hardcore audience.
You seem to like 1st parties. I'd get the 3ds.

I agree Vita is mostly for mature gamers like PSP, but not that the 3DS isn't for hardcore gamers.
You can perfectly be a hardcore gamer when you play on 3DS or DS all the time...
Why do some people seem to think that you're only a hardcore player when you play shooters and violent games all the time?!

I also want to add that people should stop by just saying "ooh, PSVita sucks" or "the 3DS is crap, it causes super headaches and makes you vomit!"
I'm personally a big 3DS/Nintendo fan but you just have to admit that both systems have their good (and bad) sides!
So people who say things like this should bring up some VERY good reasons or just be silent forever!
Sorry for my outburst but it had to be said ones.
