Gekido Advance : Kintaro's Revenge
Gekido Advance: Kintaro's Revenge is the sequel to the PSX title Gekido. The gameplay is very intuitive, though a lot of people won't like not being able to block. The action is very well paced letting you have a breather after having some fast and frenzied fights.
This title is also an absolute graphical treat for GBA gamers. Excellent sprites (clearly inspired by SNK's fighters), great animation and beautiful backgrounds, this is a game that has had a lot of attention pit into it and has great presentation too. The game also has many cut scenes which like the graphics are pretty much inspired by Japanese animation, even though it was developed by a Italian developer.
Soundwise its lovely, while some games of the time had some tinny sound this was one of the games that obviously has been allowed a decent amount of cart space for the sound. Though there aren't many songs on this, the ones that are on are of great quality and really suit the games levels.
This may not convert those who don't like the genre but for those who have enjoyed the odd scrolling fighter its something I feel that you should try. Also some may know that this was published in the US by Greg Woggermans DSI Games...but don't let that put you off.
Sorry this isn't Christmassy but there isn't really any good Xmas GBA games.
