GBA GBA SP not saving progress (WL4)

So, I've been playing Wario Land 4 on a GBA SP, and it never saves my progress. It's supposed to autosave every time you beat a level, and I even tried pressing "Quit" in a level, then turning it off, but it still doesn't save.
I'm a noob at original GBA hardware, any tips or suggestions??

Battery inside cartridge might be dead. Check if cartridge has a battery. GBA SP does't have nothing to do with the saving.
