Cheap-o batteries are the only option now

No second hand ones out there?

Possibly, but I don't see 'em in eBay searches ever, plus who knows how much life THEY have as well

Yea second hand batteries can be a lottery

Spose I should also invest in one at some point as a backup for my micro

I had an aftermarket battery explode on me about an hour after plugging it in. I hooked it up, walked away from my workspace, and when I came back 5 minutes later it was amazingly hot (unit wasn't on or plugged in). I tossed it in a metal container, as I didn't want to risk it exploding in my hand while I hastily tried to open it back up, and within an hour or so it ruptured. No good.

I've had others where the pigtail with fell right off or they plain old didn't work/take a charge. Ugh.

So where would one get a decent GB Micro battery these days and how do you know what you're buying?

eBay is your best bet and I guess the best method would be dont buy the absolute cheapest

It's a total crapshoot. They're all aftermarket parts made in China.
