can it be done? can a Gateway 3DS display the 3ds screen on a computer? Or at least record the 3ds screen? (without the need of a capture card)

I don't beleive so. Homebrew needs a bit more time, and I'm not sure if something like that is possible with userland only, or if it would require kernel access.

You need a video mod to capture anything

The hardware is not there, it would be like a screen cap application. Slow way down. You need a cap card.

Your imagination is the only place currently. I swear, I would love screen captures for some of the awesome stuff in MH3 that no one would believe me about, but it's just not there.
