Yeah. Surprisingly for a flashcart group, they certainly seem quite committed to their customers. MT-Card, 3DSLink etc. are nowhere to be found.at the end one thing you cant denie gateway helped the 3ds scene alot and ilthe card was surely worth the 60$ back 3years ago. And even if many of the newer improofments are thanks to yellow8,smea and many more they atleast give credit for it to the scene(like the hbloader, a9hl,..)
It's mostly irrelevant but really, a lot of progress for the free CFWs was made through reversing GW itself. They really were valuable to the 3DS scene's growth.I think some people are missing the point.
We know that GW is irrelevent now that CFW exists, nobody really disputes this. The A9LH support is appreciated by those of us who happen to already own a GW as we can presumably now ditch our 9.2 NAND is we want to. And y'know, those of us who own a GW can (and do) use AuReiNand, Cakes etc. too in addition to GW.
At the same time, there's no good reason to support it, they both serve the same purpose and not all homebrew supports RedNAND so there's no real reason to use it over emuNAND.All this work by Gateway and still no mention of ever supporting RedNAND despite there being no reason to not support it as it does not cut into their profits to have you running RedNAND over GW EmuNAND.
What I would be even more afraid of with Gateway writing A9LH stuff is that we may get stuck with having to run a custom Gateway version of A9LH where embed brick code to brick when running other CFWs.
"Please understand we are still supporting our V1 hardware from a few years ago, which in the case of this major update has proven quite challenging."So this means that gateway will directly support 10.3 or will they release a downgrader?
I wasn't even aware there was a V2 Gateway.How can you tell if you have a V1 or V2 of a Gateway? ;O;
I don't think there is. When they say[...]
I wasn't even aware there was a V2 Gateway.
, it's just their way of saying: 'we haven't updated our hardware yet, unlike those bastards SKY3DS who've got three versions and are stealing all our customers'Please understand we are still supporting our V1 hardware from a few years ago...
Most of the people slagging GW are those who came into the scene relatively recently and thus have been spoilt by free CFW. People seem to forget that it was only a year or so ago that GW was the only real option for regular people as the CFW that existed were private and only circulated among the developers. We didn't even have public .cia installers back then.It's mostly irrelevant but really, a lot of progress for the free CFWs was made through reversing GW itself. Slating them has almost become a hobby here on GBAtemp but if it weren't for GW, the scene wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as it has.
And as for A9LH, yeah. I use AuRei to boot GW, but a direct GW Mode boot would be much better.
I remember the days when the forums seemed to come alive when GW 2.3b came out and made 7.x emuNAND bootable (as well as people torrenting the leaked beta).Most of the people slagging GW are those who came into the scene relatively recently and thus have been spoilt by free CFW. There are plenty of legitmate reasons to criticise GW. The fact that their cart is basically just a DRM dongle is one. That they brick people's consoles is another. But the fact remains that GW was literally the only choice back in the early days.
Maybe the surprise is the support for 2.1 on emunandthey said surprise I don't know what is it but it seems good and they would make A9LH simpler to install maybe this is the Gateway 4.0 Omega and Ultra now what is next?

I hate their stupid cheats thing. I've never used it because cheats ruin games for me. It's just a thing they included so they can say 'look, free CFWs can't do this so buy GW please'."We now support A9LH!" "But you still have to buy our card!" Yea yea gateway. I dont need the use of roms or cheats really. NTR does the job nicely and Cia files are nicer to have tbh. And the 300 limit thing.. I dont have hat many games in the first place. "What aboot demos and injected gba/snes/ect.?" If you have 300 games on your 3ds theres a problem tbh. Gateway will alwayd be 3 steps behind but it does have its advantages i guess. I have one but it sits on my desk in a cart holder and ive used it maybe 3 times after i figured out I didnt need it for a cfw. A9LH support should mean no cart, but you know they will make you need it.
