You can do wonders my friend 
Play GBA/DSiware with CFW (No Gateway support).
And use roms with the gateway card. (CFW has no rom support, only cia installation).
You can also have DS Mode in emunand with CFW.

You can install Pasta, when you're on a new3DS. Install this CFW including the AGB firm signature patcher for playing GBA games. If you're on a old3DS, just install rxTools which includes Pasta but it is not necessary because rxTools runs Virtual GBA games fine.
