And just how do you figure that a flashcard, that pretty much has nothing on it, would be able to dump roms. Unless, you mean those that you download from the 3DS eShop, if that is what you meant, then no, no one, not even the Gateway team has been able to succeed in making that possible.

C'mon people. Give the kid credit for getting acknowledgement this feature being worked on.

Shouldn't be impossible given they have kernel control from the SD.

The launcher.dat on the SD has full kernel control and should be able to read data from the retail card and write it. Given more dev time I don't see why this couldn't happen. Yes this this speculation, but it doesn't seem implausible given the rapid progress with region unlocking and firmware spoofing.
