Hacking Gateway 3DS Help

Hello, all. I recently got interested in the 3Ds again. I have had it since the gateway came out so I have not updated it.

I recently got it up and running, put in the new games like tri force or mario and luigi paper force or whatever and they don't work. They just get stuck on the 3ds screen:

Older games work fine.

1. DO I need to upgrade my gateway? (searched google and youtube and nothing really concrete comes up)
2. My 3ds is on 4.5-10, do the games not work because the GATEWAY CFW that it loads to load games is also on 4.5 since I don't have a way to upgrade it?
3. Can I upgrade the CFW from the GATEWAY CFW with a file or does it have to be with a game cart?\

You can't play those games because your firmware is too low.

This is what you should do:
1. Follow https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/ to backup your save games (and copy the JKSM folder to your computer afterward).
2. Follow https://3ds.guide
3. Install your games, either by converting the 3ds files to cia files using GodMode9 and installing with FBI or downloading with freeShop, and import the save files.

This is what you CAN do if you really want to:
1. (If you already have an emuNAND skip this). Create an emuNAND by backing up your SD card, booting Gateway with the card out, putting the card in, choosing the format emuNAND option, then putting your SD card contents back.
2. Get a Poochy & Yoshi rom
3. Boot Gateway mode with the card out. Put the card in and hold Up while choosing the boot Gateway option.
4. Try to play Yoshi. This will update your firmware.

Great post thanks a lot. I want to stay with the GATEWAY as it is easier for my little one to just drag the game to SD card and play it. Sadly, I didn't understand all of it. .

Treat me like a kid who is 10 and does not understand well, I am sorry, I just didn't understand.

4. Play the game via the gateway mode?

I think I understand a bit after reading it 7th time lol, I'll test it out and report back.

1. Look at the bottom right corner of the top screen when in System Settings. Does the firmware start with Emu or Ver? If Ver you need to do the step (emu means you have an emuNAND).

this does the opposite of autobooting, if you are autobooting emunand then holding L will boot sysnand and viceverse

How do I know I have the latest and greatest GTW update? (I know there have not been any updates in a long time, but I think there is a beta, and I would use it, but I don't know how to update.)

DO I just download the latest downloads from GTW, UNZIP, and just put the Launcher.bat into my SD card for the 3DS and that's done, the update I mean?

That's right, you just need the latest launcher.dat.
