Okay, so I know this is probably an annoying thread that's had many incarnations over time, but I was just wondering, does this laptop seem any good for gaming?

    In my opinion, no.

What is your price range, and what are some games you plan on playing with it?

I recommend a customized Dell XPS 15 with an i7, 6-8GB RAM, 1GB dedicated graphics if you plan on running anything fancy.

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Edit: You generally don't want shared graphics RAM for gaming...

sadly, that laptop's the only thing I can afford right now, I've actually ordered it, it's not that I need a gaming laptop, it's mainly going to be used for school work, I was just wondering if it'd be good for if I get bored.

Nope, it won't do any good for gaming. It doesn't even have a proper GPU; the IGP's desktop version is shitty (the Radeon 4200, I've used it), so the mobile one will suck even more.

If you know any specific games you want to play, try this site.

It will test your PC and tell if it can handle the game or not.

If you can bump up the RAM to 4GB (about $20-40 if you're in the US), and share as much as possible with the graphics card, you should be able to run some older games, as well as some Source games (I have a similar laptop running Portal 2 at 20FPS, but it has 3GB RAM.)
