well mine was going to but might not now. i have to call the week of release (20 days...woooo) to get a answer. but im kinda happy they are not, because i would be an hour away from where i pre ordered due to a friends b-day party. If they dont release at midnight, my arse will be there at 7 am waiting for the 9am opening

I can't see there being that many midnight launches across North America, possibly a couple in the major US cities and one or two in Canada but they will be the exception, especially since the damn thing comes out on a Sunday morning and Europe gets it before NA this time so the NA launch will not be as big a deal among the western games journalists as it usually is.

Finally got around to call my local Gamestop. They said that I can pay when I pick it up and that I am guaranteed to get one on the release day. Hopefully what I was told is true and nothing will go wrong on that day.

Lol, Best Buy has customer service? Thats a shocker. I spent 30 minutes arguing after they sold my MvC3 Special Edition to a hoarder. Didnt even get a "Sorry" out of them.

Decided to throw down a second pre-order at Target's, since the best place to buy something rare is always the unexpected

Guys im telling you it wont matter because gamestop internally knows how many 3ds systems they will get. if you pre order, you get one period. But be forwarned, if they did not and they over reserved, you think if you were pre order number #3 and they only got 30 units instock and you were 45th in the line on launch they would save you one? it dont work that way. too many people got burning with the wii and another games as such in the past.

If your store does take that time to go through the receipts on the computer and number them before launch, kudos, your lucky.

but it wont even matter, everyone who pre orders before they cut it off will get a system.
Perhaps GameStop corporate wants things handled that way, but from what I and many others have reported, the system you suggest is both unfair and unused in stores.

My friend ordered Halo Reach Limited Edition from Best Buy. The idiots put his order down as the normal edition. He came to the store, asked for his Limited Edition and they were down to 1 copy which they had previously looked over.

On a side note, was pre-ordering some games today, and found out that i was the first on the pre-order list XD. (No idea how, i didnt do it until near the end of January). Though, the manager still said to get there early, because unless your REALLY high on the list and are present at the launch, theres a good chance everyone might not get one.

That makes the most sense of all ways to do things. Gamestop employees go through the line of people at launch, and check each of their pre-order numbers, then they rearrange the line with lowest coming first.
No clue if that's what the manager meant though.

I always though pre ordering was free.
Technically it is. It's not like you're paying extra to preorder, but you can't just say you want to preorder without showing GameStop you have the cash to actually fulfill the preorder.

And damn. I hope if I get a job at Best Buy I don't suck that hard.

I know the guys at GameStop and I KNOW I will be in the front of the line that morning, if there is one (people in Chicago SUCK they don't know about time). I bet half of them won't even know it was DST today and on launch they will all be an hour late.

Either way the guys will save me one because I always come in there to buy stuff. Despite ehat people say about GameStop it can have some good prices (especially on PS2 games) and the staff is USUALLY friendly at the ones I go to. At the VERY least their stupidity and ignorance gives me lulz.

I plan having mine paid in full before launch. So I dont for foresee a problem getting it. I will still be there opening time on launch just for extra insurance.
