I am interested in buying some games for my softmodded wii.

But I am worried that I won't be able to completely play the game fully as the games may come with new updates.

I have startpatch and it is set to block updates.

But I am still worried if there are new ioses in the games.

I have Wii firmware 4.2U and I am interested in buying:
1. Zelda Skyward Sword
2. Rayman Origins
3. Kirby's Return to Dreamland

So far the latest up-to-date game I can play is Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Are there any new ioses I need to install for the games I listed.

That's a bit overkill. Startpatch blocks updates just as well as priiloader, right? It's true the latter has more options, but it won't make games play better.

All in all, I'd use syscheck to check which version of IOS'es you have (the ones below 200...the cIOS'es don't matter for retail games) and then check and download the latest versions of those with modmii.

The minimalistic approach would be to just check which IOS the games you want to buy use, and update only those if necessary (link to a list of games).

The games you mention come with firmware 4.3. And on the wii, firmware can mostly be read as "a package of IOS'es".
