So I've been trying to find a good way to mod a gameboy advance so it has a front light screen. Now that the afterburners are long gone are there any other mods that can be done? I've found this mod where the front light from a GBA SP is installed into a gameboy colour http://www.choochoobot.com/builds/gameboy-color-mod-001.html

Does anything think it would be posible to do that to a GBA, take the SP's front light out and put it in a GBA?

i would say yes. but dont take my word since im not much of a modder. i would say just rotate the light till it fits. and make sure the GBA puts out the same voltage as the GBC

I know for a fact that someone did this, taking the frontlight of a GBA SP (non backlit version) and applying it to an original launch GBA, and they documented it fully step-by-step on the PocketHeaven forums, but for the life of me I can't find the respective thread link right now. I'll reply again if I can manage to find it.

EDIT: j3llo, the GBA operates at 5 volts and the GB/GBC operates at 3.3 as far as I know.

If the GBA draws 5V's and the GBC draws 3.3 Volts would it not be fine to put the light in as it's just under drawing and not over drawing? Like it's fine to put a 40w bulb in a 60w socket, but you would not want to put a 120w bulb into a 60w socket.

My electrical knowledge is poor but I can follow a guide well enough. Only problem is bad electrical knowledge doesn't allow me to think outside of the guide.

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
