I go to start the Wii game on my homebrewed Wii U and it instead of loading into the game it goes back to the Wii menu. This only happens on some of the games not all of them. I can answer any questions please help me figure this out!
I downloaded the rom from the megathread and it downloads as a wbfs file so no need to change it.1) Did you inject the Wii ISO file into the Wii U, or did you download a VC game from the Eshop(or NUSSPLI)?
1a) If you did inject it, what method did you use?
2) Is your vWii homebrewed as well?
3) Which Game did this happen with?
My going theory so far is that you may have either injected the game improperly causing the game to crash and load back into the home menu in vWii mode. Or there is some underlying issue with your vWii mode that is causing the game to crash. This has happened to me before on both my actual Wii and my Wii U's vWii* whenever my game has crashed on startup, leading to a direct boot to the home menu.
A way to fix this to allow your game to load properly is by using Wii Backup Manager to turn your ISO into a WBFS and loading it into USB Loader GX, this will allow it to load and play properly and you don't even need to do a full inject. The one problem with this solution is that booting into the game takes considerably longer as you have to enter vWii mode, enter the Homebrew Channel**, enter USB Loader GX, and Finally load into your game.
Another way to fix this is to reinject your game using a different method. My favorite way with little to no hassle(except the occasional problem) is by using UWUVCI to inject the game. Most problems you'll have with UWUVCI is with any configurations in the WUP folder before you inject it, but you can change these whenever you want to by entering the BaseGames folder and modifying anything that is being handled improperly.
*Whenever my Wii opened a channel that didn't have a proper WBFS or WAD file attached to it, causing an immediate crash.
**you don't have to do this part if you've installed USB Loader GX as it's own channel.
Did you change any settings in USB Loader GX, I had a similar problem when I followed a Youtube guide, just reset your USB Loader GX settings and the games might boot properly.I downloaded the rom from the megathread and it downloads as a wbfs file so no need to change it.
