Gaming Game recommendation for parents?

So many parents are now the proud owners of a turquoise NDS and a DSTT with 2 gig mc courtesy of their wonderful charming daughter. (well, once i post it)

I want to preload their mc with games, because they have small minds that wouldn't be able to cope =D


My mum is a retro classic kind of gamer.... or into kiddy kid games (like Barnyard for PS2.....). Above all she's quite lets say, simple. Certainly not the brightest light on the christmas tree. Simple colourful platform games are her thing I guess. Above all she hates fighting games... or games with more than one/two attack buttons lets say.

My dad is just going to be into the brain training type deals... so I think I know what's good for him... brain training 1&2, maybe the maths training, and a crossword one.


So, any recommendations for specific games for the "older" generation lets say?
And is there any simple homebrew to get my mum hooked up with old Nes games?

Brain Training 1 and 2, Brain Age, Picross, maybe Meteos for the Dad.

Kirby, Spyro for the Mom.

nesDS is a great and simple NES hombrew, if you set it up for them first.
Just put all of the NES games you want into one .nds file (like all of the mario games per say)
and then they just need to start it up and select which game they want to play.
I think that might work for what you want.

Maybe Puzzle Quest for the dad if he's into that sort of thing (Thinking games)?

Not sure my dad will have the patience to stick through hotel dusk or professor layton... but they are great thinking games so i will certainly pop them on there and encourage him to try them out!!

I'm sure my mum will love new super mario bros, kirby, spyro and i think crash would fit into the remit quite nicely as well =)

Hm, my parent's combination of Solitaire, Mahjong and Lego Star Wars doesn't sound like it'll help here...

Do you think she'd like Soul Bubbles? At it's lowest level it could be paralled to a slow paced collect-em-all platformer, just without the platforms

. Yoshi's Island too if she can stand the crying.

You might throw a strategy game on there for your dad. Advance wars, etc.

Air Traffic Chaos would probably be a good game for them. It's only 11MB trimmed, so it takes minimal space and it's damned addictive.

I second Soul Bubbles for mom. Maybe one of those musical games? I haven't tried all of them so I can't really suggest which one. Super Princess Peach? Animal Crossing? Definitely Cooking Mama 2... a decent small adventure game like Trace Memory? Let's Yoga, The Quest Trio, Mystery Case Files, Phoenix Wright..

and for dad maybe Hotel Dusk and Unsolved Mysteries for more interactive puzzle/mystery, Age of Empire, Advance Wars for strategy... I dunno.

Perhaps this isn't the best recommendation for your family, but I know my dad really got into Dead n' Furious.
I had to warn him not to hit the touchscreen too hard three times.

I'm not sure, but I know my parents both love tetris, because it is the only game they've played before, and it is enjoyable, so I would go for that.

Parents (more or dad) tend to like more puzzleish games, brain training, picross, neves, sodoku, polarium, professor layton, and other similar games..

I would also reccomend Clubhouse Games 42 classic games or whatever it's called, they would enjoy all those games.

Maybe try getting your dad some sports games? Like Racing, and Golf, if he is into those things.

You could give your mom cooking mama, and maybe some mahjong game.

You could get them to try quickspot too.
