Hardware Game Cube Controller

Hi, I'm planning to buy a GameCube Controller for my Wii (USA - NTSC).

The place where I use to buy accessories is http://www.play-asia.com

The controller sold there states that is: "Compatible with Gamecube™ Japan"
And does not mention anything about USA or Europe.

I find it complicated for it not to work on an USA Wii, but I prefer to ask to be sure about it.

Get one from dealextreme.com. They aren't the best qualiti but they are only 10$ with free shipping.

Is it possible to hook up the Game Cube Controller (or compatible) to the wii system and use it for gaming purposes (as opposed to wiimote)?

Or does the Game Cube Controller only works with Game Cube titles?

Gamecube controllers do work for some wii games such as SSBB

I just lucked out and got two Wavebird controllers for $13 bucks each. Both in awesome condition! A friend got the other two and resold them for $40 bucks. The wavebird are so nice for FPS. I play "Time Splitters - Future Perfect" all the time.
