Ok, this is a guarenteed way to get nintendo to fix this and not find homebrew or anything on you wii.
Things needed:
Tri-wing screwdriver
9 volt battery
a couple of wires
Wii
Open the wii using any of the disasembly guides on the net. Locate the NAND. Take the 2 wires and attatch then to the 2 terminals on the battery. Now take the other end of the wires and start rubbing along the legs of the NAND chip. When you hear a "pop" or start smelling smoke then you start reassembling the wii. Tell nintendo that you did the 4.2 update and your wii started smoking and hasn't worked since.
That is the stupidest fucking thing i have EVER read on GBATemp and I hope to god the OP doesn't listen to you.
There are stickers, triwing screws and checks to see if someone opened a wii during repair, opening it voids the warranty and fucks you out of getting any help because they'll assume it being opened as the cause and charge you for a new wii.
DO NOT OPEN IT IF IT IS BRICKED. Nintendo can't list titles on a bricked wii, let alone fix it. They'll say they "fixed" it but you get another refurb wii with a new serial number and your shop account linked to the new one, that's why your shit never comes back with vc games installed or any of your previous info, nothing is transferred but your license.
Nintendo currently can do less for their customers than team twiizers, none of their "repair" shy of a disc drive replacement is actually conducted, the boards get scrapped and the parts go to fix other broken wiis at sponsored nintendo repair centers.
I can't believe you're telling people to do this shit, but then again, it's not your warranty, right?
