So i was playing around in the settings config for Fortnite in Switch (Used Checkpoint to obtain) and there are a bunch of settings that aren’t user accessible ingame.

This is just the one that stood out

edit: Also an option to un cap the framerate, not sure who would want to but eh

One would assume that the frame rate was capped for a reason, and removing that cap would cause worse performance.
But then again this is Nintendo, so who knows.

640x360, I get a nearly locked 60FPS!

But in all seriousness, I'm sure they can optimize it a lot more. I played on PS4 when the battle royale mode first released and back then it was around 30 or so, and now it's locked at 60.

I uncapped the framerate, disabled V-sync and changed the render resolution to 640x360, I get a nearly locked 60FPS!
Uncapping the fps in consoles will mess with your controls/gameplay. There is a reason why the frame rate is locked on consoles.

yeesh the switch was released 4 years after the PS4 yet it can barely hit 640x360 60FPS on fortnite

thats gotta be a joke right

Keep in mind it's portable. And only $300 for the size and portability. Plus the roughly $50 worth for the Joycon to come with it.

do you think you could lock the frame rate at 15-19 fps for better battery life??
I mean, it probably wouldn't be substantial. And that would be like playing a Powerpoint presentation. Would be terrible, especially in a competitive game.

Anyone that took this seriously missed what I thought was a halfway decent joke
The only joke here is the Nintendo switch's incapability to play other consoles' games well

For some reason when I try to apply any changes, they don't apply at all. Strange. I've even done read-only, but nothing. Any tips?

If the CPU is bottlenecking it, it won't have a 100% stable 60 FPS framerate even if you set the resolution to 160x144. Sometimes even my PC's GTX 1070 gets bottlenecked by the CPU, no matter the settings.
They will probably keep optimizing the engine though. The PS4 version originally ran at 30 FPS, now at 60.
