I want to use the same flash drive for booting regular Wii games in vWii mode and adding extra storage for Wii U software, if it is possible, I assume I would have to partition the drive. Any advice on this?

I tried that, however when I tried to put MP3 on my flash drive I couldn't because FAT32 doesn't allow files larger than 4gb
You could partition the drive and put one partition in fat32 and the other in a different format. Thats how I do it.
