I'm an utter noob, but.....

Rather than having linux load on a switch is it possible to get Chrome OS installed? It is lighter and would run android apps natively. Then i wouldn;t need to buy a gaming chromebox after the switch as well.

Thoughts?

Linux is probably best because it’s totally open-source, and runs just fine from a prompt. Chrome OS doesn’t seem that good for the job.

Basically, I'm saying Chrome OS/Chromium is out of the box friendly, while linux always assumes you know what you're doing and can fix things on your own

Whether these are true statements may be debatable, but I'm personally much more comfortable with Chrome OS since our google overlords have spoon fed me so nicely

Gimme ReactOS ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Nothing but Symbian!
That way we can finally access that plentiful software ecosystem!
Don't waste time with noob stuff and give us OS/2 Warp!

From personal experience, ChromeOS uses more battery life than Linux. Maybe from background services, I don't know, I never looked into it. The Chromebook here definitely lives longer with a standard linux distro though.

ChromeOS is based on the linux kernel like Android though, so you could probably take care of a lot of issues. With linux however, at least on a buntu flavor, you can install ChromiumOS and have both experiences on one install. And as pointed out before, linux can run a good amount of Android applications 'natively' through Anbox. There are some caveats, but conceptually I believe you can work around a lot of issues, especially on a per-app basis.

Feel free to correct me though, my information isn't perfect.

android is just simply the best of the handheld, smartphones, tablets devices of nowadays and Switch hardware was mostly used on android devices it self so I think android is just years ahead of everything in app\game count...

I don't have anything that want me to use Linux on my desktop, ARM even less. Hell even windows which is the only thing I ever used as its where the games and DX12 crap and other things are, I also don't want windows ARM 4 anything.
