Hacking Forcing Gateway to not "Real-Time Save"?

Basically gateway does not have real time saving, it's only transferred to the SD. When you exit the game, the card2/NAND saving games are "real time saving" as the saves are wrote directly to the rom on the micro SD during usage
So it's still saving when using Exit -> X ?

Why did they advertise the RTS feature then if it still copy to SD only when exiting the game? v2.x is still working like v1.x? you lose your save if you don't exit properly and load another game?
RTS is only for Card2?

Yeah pretty much, too many people where confused about that, but real time save is pretty much only for card2 games, all other games still need you to exit properly for the save to be transferred to The SD card

Suppose they should of properly explained it, as people are still thinking it saves automatically, gateway should really get it sorted out properly before claiming they have RTS

If the problem here is you want to not save after something, its entirely possible. I just did it buy mistake actually.
I was fiddling around with the MH4 main menus and mistakenly deleted my save game, in the continue screen, there wasn't any save.
So I immediately took the card out and long pressed the power button.
rebooted up gateway mode when i turned it on and the save was back... so just dont exit properly as in dont press home and x or whatever.

I actually have a GW and MT and for this type of save manipulation I actually prefer the MT card because it does use direct save to microSD and not sure it even has an onboard eeprom like GW. I use it a lot in FE to suspend save, exit game, kick out cart and then backup save file. That way if something goes horribly wrong in my battle I don't lose an hour of play time because of one bad move. I do wish GW would allow you to turn off SD card read/write and just deal with the eeprom but it is such and obscure or as someone else said 'anti' feature I doubt they will mess with it.

They did say in their last 'news' tidbit that they were doing something impressive with saves so lets hope they improve the system, maybe just go to a save state RTS which would allow us to trade RTS files and not worry about the ROM headers or cartridge IDs and such. I would love to be able to go into classic mode, load my retail game, do an RTS and then dump the rom, move to gateway and restore the RTS. That would be my idea of revolutionary.

Haven't tried this myself as I have had no reason to prevent Gateway from saving games, but couldn't you just switch on the write protect on the SD Card to prevent Gateway from modifying the save file in the card?

He wants to have it on the fly, without going back and forth between his computer. If he write protects his save file, then he'll be unable to save, no matter what.

I suppose if the write protect switch was accessible while the SD card was stuck in the 3ds, that would work.

Maybe with something like this?
