Erm, so I have a Jap Wii and of course I only understand english, LOL. Naturally, I have to freethewads a release of NTSC-U TV Show King to NTSC-J so I can play it on my Wii. The problem is, when I install it, the game language is displayed in japanese. Does anyone know of a possible way to force a WiiWare/wad game to use a certain language?

Edit: Having the same problem with WiiWare Pop NTSC-U, when I freethewads it to NTSC-J the language changes to japanese.

yeah i need this too

i so wanna play tv show king in english

Unpack the wad,
Then use the generetic wii patcher.
the 00000001.app (open it in GWP)
Then country strings or ... what you want!
Pack it with the wadpacker.
And then use freethewads.

I hope this work

Whoa whoa. Sorry but I'm new to all this but how do I unpack the wad? What is a generic wii patcher and GWP? Thanks thanks for any help you can give.

By chance is there a way you can change the default language in the Wii's system settings to English, which can change the WiiWare's language? It could work much like the DS's language settings, where a number of games use the firmware to set the language instead of a menu.

no theres nothing on a jpn wii

cause if there is i wouldnt have sratarted posting at the jpn wii thread

the games all have something like a universal code which the wii decrypts and then projects in its language

i think

but please can someone hack it to force english?

For the TV Show King PAL, the language string can only be found in 00000007.app which I use WGLP to patch. However, I don't know a successful way to repack the wad.

If using the Kike's wadpacker, it would ask for the file 00000700.app rather than 00000007.app.

If using the BFGR one, it would pack without error. However, unpack the repacked wad would create 00000700.app rather than 00000007.app which is not the same as the original wad file.

It's not the problem of modifying .app file for sure. Cause I had tried without modifying any .app files.
Maybe it's the problem of wadunpacker.

wadunpacker is really a matter.

I use fs dumper to get the required files instead of unpacking the wad file. I use WGLP to patch 00000007.app and use BFGR wadpacker to repack the files. The new wad file can be installed without error. However, the game language is still Japanese. Too bad!
