Hacking Flashing via USB

Can I flash a dvd drive via usb? as in plug it into a sata to usb connector? All I have is a laptop with no sata connector.

It's possible.
The thing you'll need is a X360 USB pro.

Better yet, get the V2 version since this one will come with a connectivity kit build in.
And depending on your DVD drive, you'll need a Probe v3 for extracting keys from the Liteon drive.

You can, but you specifically need an xbox360usb pro. You can't just use any sata->usb adapter.

Nope, you'll need a JTAG/RGH for that.

Some emulators and that's it basically.
