Homebrew Fixing a Black Screen on a 2DS

My friend gave me his 2DS and I'm gonna assume it's soft bricked. 2DS will not boot to the home menu and doesn't make any data such as the DCIM folder. I went ahead and tried the Lazarus 3DS script to fix it but I'm still stuck on the black screen. CTRTransfer to 9.2.0 didn't help as booting up gives me an ARM9 error. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Running CFW or stock? If CFW what is the users setup like.

It was running A9LH but I used NTRboot to install B9S. He had Luma on the SD card but there wasn't much apart from the basics.

Sounds like something went wrong with writing to the NAND. Can you enter the recovery menu?

I managed to use recovery mode but it didn't help as it still booted to a black screen.
