Hi everyone,

I purchased 2 3DS XL for my girlfriend and I (a 9.4 and 9.5).
I am planning on getting 2 cards but after a lot of reading as far as I understand I am stuck with Sky3DS?
We want to play on LAN, is it 100% ban proof?
With the Sky3DS, is it possible to change a header to be online ban proof?
Last but not least why is there so many hate against Sky3DS? It seem 'revolutionnary' to have a card that just needs to be plugged to work!...

Thanks !

Edit: Typo it's a 9.4 & 9.5

Yea LAN won't get you banned. Just never give the units a wifi password and they will use an ad-hoc connection to each other and play multiplayer fine.

Thanks for the info, great option to have the adhoc!
Any clue on these:

Nothing is proven to be ban safe at this time, casue no one exactly knows whay nintendo bans and on what it is based.
You can modify the template to use your own header and chip id info
Cause sk3ds is proven to be only for piracy, while gateway can do homebrew (but less then 5% use it for that :p )

Ok now I unserstand...!
And is there a way to upgrade the Sky3DS to be sure that it will work afterwards?

1, nothing is really "ban proof", private headers are the best lead we have so far, but its still not guaranteed safe,
2, a lot of the hate came from their initial scheme of making the card only work for 10 games and then forcing people to buy another card to play another 10 games, even though this has now been changed, this only came after a couple of people figured out how to bypass their block and wrote up instructions on how to bypass it........so its not so much the card people dislike, but the people behind it

well that and the fact that the "revision" which properly removed the limit was released like 1 month after the initial card release, so all the early adopters where kinda screwed with the somewhat dodgy bypass techniques as they couldn't actually update the card ....so that's another source of the hate/dislike of the card (but in all fairness those people got what they ordered and more with the bypass tools its just sucky that the card cant be updated if any roadblocks go up)

It may seem that way at first glance, but it really isn't.
- You have to cycle through games one by one with a button on the cart (this takes a while, too)
- No emuNAND support, which means when the Sky3DS is patched you have two choices, stay on old firmware and keep using your Sky3DS but be unable to play new games, or update and go legit. And this WILL happen sometime soon, people are lucky Nintendo haven't patched it yet.
- No homebrew, no CIA installation, no save editing.

All things the GW supports.
With all the features the GW offers, it's really the revolutionary one. And they're adding more features with every big update, whereas Sky3DS will never offer anything more than it does right now. On top of that, the GW is cheaper than Sky.
