I don't think you can force it to download beta versions, so you'll just have to install it manually.

Yeah, I know that FireFox automatically scans for FireFox updates, but that usually takes a few days.

That's not what I meant, Firefox doesn't scan for betas at all.

Firefox only scans and downloads new updates which aren't in BETA. Since BETA isn't always recommend.

Upgrading to 3.0.2 Beta fix'd the issue of the spell checker not working (for me)

EDIT: If you are still wondering how to force it to look for updates (if any is available) then Help > Check For Updates...

did you turn it on with the last build??..........

tools options general CHECK MY SPELLING AS I TYPE check the box next to it .....

some users don't know that it needs to be turned on in the first place

By the way, Javascript in Firefox 3.1 is around 2-3 times faster than in Firefox 3.0 which also includes the Javascript back end Firefox uses for its extensions and such. Also expect it to get a lot faster as time goes on as well as they make improvements to it.
