I find this image in Japanese board, do little research. I did not realize before how much is change creator original vision of game. This is not okay, game(s?) is to represent creator wonderful open non limited mind(will) to offer consumers variety of way of enjoy the world of game. I now know western gamer are receive not identical, but something that poorly imitates product, that is fail miserably. I realize Japan culture is perhaps too open or more grown up than America culture? Perhaps this is incorrect. I mean most western culture. Being Japanese and live in American land, now know my country games is not convey same message or feeling of creators is put me uneasy. I do not know what else to say. Perhaps contact of Japanese HQ and say western HQ is not doing satisfactory workings. Hmm I think I will keep eye of such matter.

And maybe with a little more research you'd see that Japan is just as guilty in the censorship department nowadays as any other country. It's just Japan cracks down harder on violence, and the U.S.A. cracks down harder on sex.

And Europe gets cracked hard in all those cases because you get what America decides due to nobody wanting to pay the re-localisation costs.
Life.

That image is exactly how I feel (or would without hacked roms)

Haha, I remember this episode, laughed so much with that dubbing, that translation was realy a shame.
first time I saw that my englsh was like 0, but noticing it years later XDD

I also prefer much more the original names, always. But I´ve grew up with Ash and now I know he´s Satoshi and nothing changed. I mean, if I had a chance to talk to the localization teams, the first thing I would ask for would be missing content, and lastly the names XD
yeah content is more important xD Knowing abot "Satoshi" (Ok, acctualy was about "Purin")made me start to be agains these localization/censorship stuff e3e long history XD

attempting to replace it with English text was often just the easiest thing to do since they can't exactly add scenes where the characters are explaining everything they see.
on fairy oddpartens here when there are text on screen that are not read/talked by the character they add a subtitle (in some seasons...) even for minimal stuff on a corner that "why this subtitle?" lolo

...I'm afraid I don't really understand the usage of 300 as an example though, given that the Americas never had Spartans either. By that logic, shouldn't they have been cowboys in the U.S.A. release?
yes! 300 of Arizona!
(I know nothing aboit US history sorry XD)
but well about chinese stuff theycould add a line like " it was an insult" and stuuff? idk xDD I don't remeber exatly but I remember some movies/cartoons made in western that passed in foreign countries with stuff that they think people know but a lot be like " what?"
Now I remember a joke in disney's hercules ... t was about greek language pun XD but who knews greek?

ANyway I got your point, and is a good one but well this kind of adaptation isn't like censoring a big part or culture changing :B

well and who suffer from that are the fans that want the product close as it went from the creator's mind :/
