I was at my friends house today, and he has the retail pokemon diamond. And i was messing around on it trying to find his friend code and i couldn't find it. This got me wondering...

do the flashcarts have friends codes also? or is the code like something that comes in the retail box. I'm planning on getting the G6 DS Real or the CycloDS Evo (which is making good press lately) but it started making me wonder, if i play downloaded games, do i get the friend codes still? I dont want to get halfway through pokemon and then find out if i want to play online with my friends, then i also need to buy a retail one and start all over again.
or do friend codes get generated once you connect one no matter if its ripped or retail =\

The code is generated with the MAC adress of eah console, so it can't be on the box. You can go online with any flashcart.

I have no idea about the PKMN questions, sorry.

is that a general friend code though?
because from what i've seen, each game has its own friendcode ie) mariokart vs pokemon vs metroid

so i'd have no problem connect over wifi then with flashcarts =o
sweeet. thanks

Yup, and for example, you use your retail Mario Kart cart on another DS. It'll say it can't recognize the code and ask you to connect to obtain another. Your record is still there, just the FC changes ('cos it's a different DS). Same with flashcarts.
