    What is the term for buying items to sell for profit?

    Well there are a lot of terms used to describe this situation and it would definitely be helpful if you provided some more detail, as there are different terms used in different context.
    For instance: you buy an old house, and fix it up for the sake of reselling that is commonly referred to as "Flipping".
    But with your limited description there ain't much we can do to help.

    Buying rare antiques, memorabilia, toys on Ebay to sell for a higher price as it is the only one on sale.

    Wouldn't that just be a dealer? a dealer is someone who goes and buys things for low prices and turns around sells them for profit.
