No, because the update from Nintendo would prevent it. The update downloads IOS36 and gets rid of the trucha bug. IOS16 contains the bug, but was never installed in the first place. Therefore, WAD Manager could install IOS16, but not IOS36 because it was already installed and has the bug fix preventing it from being overwritten by the unsigned one.

One of the steps is to use wad manager to reinstall all the old unpatched IOS's, replacing the patched ones

i may have missed where someone answered this, but here it is:

to overwrite an already installed IOS with an older one, you need the cIOS
to install a cIOS, you need the signing bug.

yes i do, buddy. stop flaming others. it's senseless. it's a useless argument. fact is that it's not possible to install properly signed ioses nor fakesigned ioses or other data (like wads) without ios16 or cios. team twizzers discovered some other security flaws and exploit like the one thy used to install hbc 9, but they didn't made that one or other public. so for the normal user those two ways are the only ways to go. period.

I now have another, "equally-easily-patched-by-nintendo" way, which I will share if/when (a) they patch this up AND (b) something obviously better doesn't come along.

i extracted that file and it gives me a file named syn-backup1.31...its 600 megs...and i try to extract that file but theres nothing showing up...

you need to check "Force Wii Disc" before you try to load it in wiiscrubber homie.

Tried this on a PAL wii which got updated last friday to the 23 oct system software.
I hadn't even tried to install the Homebrew Channel on it before the update so the system was "nintendo only".

What I did after the update:

Installed HBC 0.9 on WII with latest updates
Downloaded the needed files for downgrade (djtaz signature)
Formatted SD with FAT32
Unzipped the file onto the SD (make sure APPS and WAD are in the root folder)
Insert SD
Load WAD Manager from the HBC
Install the IOS16
Replace one file on the SD: boot.dol in the [3587]WAD_manager_v1.3 folder replace by the one in folder wadmanagerios16
Load WAD Manager from the HBC
Install ciosfix.wad
Run IOS Downgrader (will connect to internet and download patches up to IOS36)

System now shows 3.3E version.
Being unsure if it was succesful, I tried to install a downloaded SuperMario3 WAD file and it worked.

well if someone told me I wad using a outdated Wiiscrubber...that didnt have the check box...force wii disk...
anyways im gonna attempt to downgrade now...lol

i downloaded it it was a rar i unrared it then you got an iso file then open it with wii scrubber and go to update then sys en there is your wad clik right and select save and you got your wad file
