Gaming Fifa 18

Im a huge fan of the game however since having kids a couple of years ago I've struggled to get anywhere near it. I'm really tempted to get it for the switch but after reading reviews about it I'm not sure I'd be 100% satisfied with it. As far as I can tell the game won't have online play except for Ultimate Team (which is used as a huge cash injection for them). Online play was all i generally did on Fifa and on PS4 / Xbox its the best experience. The game engine apparently is 'a tinkered version from the FIFA 17 game' just for the switch and t does play at 60fps.

Just wondered what any of you Fifa fans will be doing when it comes out? I imagine that if this version does well then we will see Fifa 19 with a lot more features and better gameplay.

I will wait on the reviews first. If they had built madden 18 for the switch, I'd buy that over Fifa 18 in a heartbeat. Soccer just isn't too interesting for me.

I'm pretty sure that you can play online in other modes than Ultimate Team. This is a day 1 buy for me, can't wait to play it.

I already bought 18 on origins. If the switch version had pro clubs then I'd buy that but nope. It's the only game mode I play. Well...I might have bought it on origin anyways because it's tough going back to console loading times. At least PS4 vs the SSD's and 144hz on my PC. I might even have double dipped if the switch version had pro clubs.

If its right that there are other online modes such as season then yes I will be buying it day one. If not then I'm in two minds...

I've always loved playing FIFA at friends' houses, but I've never bought it myself. Honestly, with how the end of this year is shaping up and the purchases I've made and am yet to make, I'm going to skip this one. Maybe Fifa 19 will finally be my first FIFA game. Hopefully by then, the Switch version will receive all the bells and whistles of the other versions of the game and I can have a lot more confidence purchasing it on Switch.

What I read is that the Switch version won't have Fut Pro, Ultimate Clubs and the Journey. And it won't use the Frostbite engine, but one built for the Switch. Aside from that, it will have everything the other versions will have.

I've always have the PS versions, but I think I'll pick this one because of the portability and the online is cheaper than PS Plus.

This is by far the biggest draw for me. FIFA mobile sucks ASS, so a portable version of the full console FIFA experience sounds absolutely fantastic. Hopefully next year they include all the features of the other systems. I'm guessing FIFA 18 is EA dipping their toes in the water, so if it's successful, they'll continue making FIFA for Switch.

Yes, I agree, the portable version of FIFA sucks (3DS or Vita, it doesn't matter) but this version is supposed to be a console version (even it it's 2017) on Switch

IIRC the only mode not in the NS version will be The Journey, 'cause Frostbyte (as said by EA). The "pre-reviews" I read talks about the best mobile version of FIFA, not even close to the smartphone versions. I will buy day-1, and the PS4 version maybe when it costs < $20 USD, to play The Journey XD

Yeah, I was hoping for that too but not seen any sign of it.

Edit: For anyone in the UK that has a Very account (I'd originally opened one to get my Switch plus MarioKart plus Zelda for £293) they are doing a £20 off voucher for a £50 spend.
