It doesn't have to be good or bad, just you personally like it for whatever reason, like in Xenogears where you can fight in giant robots with a second player, or Fishing in breath of fire, or maybe gambling, whatever it is, just has to be a minigame, don't care if is story related or just something to take a break from the main story.

Bioware have had some nice ones. Also if I am ignoring the J part of the question then arcomage.

Never replayed any Final Fantasy one for any of them I have played. Especially the card game in 8, 9 is not much better but it is less frustrating for me.

I did replay some in Zelda, though mainly as I was too bone idle to turn on cheats and play with infinite arrows or bombs or whatever. I eventually did turn cheats on and go have my own fun in the field or something though. By similar token Shenmue had some classic arcade games as minigames. I kind of liked the robot fights in Mystical Ninja 64.

If crafting counts then that, it likely does not though. Similar for any kind of arena battles as I do like those, and especially if I can have some interesting restrictions.

So yeah never liked any kind of minigame in a specifically Japanese RPG, though I will say I skipped Xenogears and various Breath of Fire games.

Goomba-stomping in Super Mario RPG was pretty fun. And the beetle-catching. Oh, and the mine-carting.

I'm quite into Justice Monsters Five (FFXV) and Triple Triad (FFVIII) right now, but I always end up going back to Command Board (KHBBS) and Voltorb Flip (Pokemon HGSS).

That bayblade thing in TWEWY
Ah, Tin Pin Slammer. A classic.

Fishing in Breath of fire is like getting your eyelash in the eye and trying to pull it out. It is hard. Apperently in IV there is a whale in the ocean fishing spot that is the rarest speices of fish to catch, i never seen one but it should be the hardest. Fishing is actually required to get a fish man as a master to score least 3000 points fishing or even more to learn all his moves. But worth it to get bunyan as a master. :P

Guess i better stick with snowboarding in Final Fantasy vii. :creep:

FF7 had a bunch that all had some decent depth to them. Snowboarding, Chocobo racing (though that was also kind of a key mechanic for getting some optional content in the game), that tower defense game, etc.

Triple triad from final fantasy VIII I swear I must of spent over 11 hours one time just playing the card game then another 20 for collecting them.

Yu-gi-oh!! Before Yu-gi-oh!! :P

You know what is sad? Chrono trigger had mini games, but is only in one place in the whole game. Meleninial fair. Is easily forgetable since it is very early in the game, soda drinking, where you have to press a as fast as you can, the dumb hit the bell with the hammer, betting on who will win a race, and that creepy rayman looking guy in the tent that has you playing simon says.

Don't forget that you also need to fish in multiple areas to get the silver knife so you can get the female master who wants you to have 15*? different weapons.

But for mini-games.....Sonic Adventure pinball, if that technically counts.
If not, arcades in GTA IV.

You were talking about breath of fire 3 right? I was talking about 4. I hardly fish in 3, but i must fish in 4, why? CAUSE BUNYAN. He won't be a master until every other master has agreed to teach you, (which is 11) and fishing is a requirement so fishman will be my master, so then i can get nun lady to be my master so... you see where this is going. Is also hard. :glare:

And is JRPGS Japanese Role Playing Game. Unless there is a pinball game in sonic chronicles on NDS, then sorry to say it doesn't qualify, and no GTA game does, cause for one, is not even made by japanese developers. :P

Actually, i never played Sonic chronicles, i wonder if is bad, i should try it sometime... but i hope not to be disappointed.

Now if you wanna count chao garden as a second game, perhaps i guess is technially a RPG since you do
  • Level up stats
  • Buy items
  • Chao race and chao karate
  • Learn new skills (go to chao kindergarden)
  • Evolve (basically transform with animals)
  • Breed
But i mean you really wanna call it much of a rpg? You might as well make it is own game, chao garden mobile, for smart phones or 3DS/Vita. Not like it matters, you just gonna be like this anyway. :creep:

You were talking about breath of fire 3 right?

Most definitely 3--the everything (music, art, mechanics, etc.,) is why I played it on psx, psp, pc, and most emulators....and those Deis bewbs.

As for everything else, feck it, it's 2016--Corey in the House is the best JRPG/chao garden simulator. lek.

Oh, yeah i know about those games, but only Legend of Zelda Series are considered JRPG, Kirby adventure and Mega Man ZX advent are not. BUT Mega Man Star force, Battle Network, Command Mission, and Legends are considered JRPG, and since some people here don't know what JRPG IS...

This is a list of Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) franchises. For the purpose of this article, a JRPG is defined as a franchise which: (1) is considered a role-playing game by reliable sources and was made in Japan, or (2) made in another country, but otherwise the franchise would be difficult to differentiate from a JRPG due to having common traits found in JRPGs such as: anime character designs, RPG elements, fantasy setting and widely considered as being inspired or influenced by a JRPG. Games on this list that fall under the latter category include the Ragnarok and the Magna Carta series. The best selling JRPG franchise of all time is the Pokemon franchise, which has sold over 279,000,000 video game units as of 2016.

BASICALLY anythiing like

  • Made in japan, or take inspiration or similar related content to these games
  • Turn base, strategy, Action, adventure, RPG
  • Player fights battles, gain exp, level up stats, purchase items, have a group of traveling companinons (some common elements to rpg games, not all are like this though)
The game mention has to be labeled JRPG in some way or form.
