This a request thread

Apologies if there is already a thread for handling this sort of request

I am mainly interested in disabling the Depth of Field effect

All I know is that the game was developed using Unreal Engine

Thanks in advance

Hey everyone,
thx @UsernamesAreWeird for this post!
The blur in Fantasy Life i on the Switch is honestly unbearable for me. On PC, you can just disable the “Depth of Field” setting – but on the Switch, there seems to be no such option.

The blur is not just annoying, it actually gives me motion sickness, which really ruins the experience.

Has anyone found a cheat, mod, or any kind of workaround to disable the blur or depth of field effect on Switch? I’d be super grateful!

Ok, I am dumping it

Update:

There is only these

They don't have what I am looking for

Maybe it is hidden inside the sdk5 file or something

The "Tessellation" file is the only thing in the "Engine" directory, the others I got from the "Contents" folder

okay it's probably in the main pak file then, let me take a look on the PC version and I'll be able to get a better idea for you.

The Engine inis are in the pak files, so, DoF is a setting you can just switch on and off for graphics settings so since I don't have a copy of the Switch version, here's what I suggest you do:

masagrator has a great guide on dealing with UE5 files, https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-unpack-pack-utoc-ucas-in-unreal-engine-4-5-games.666431/ this game uses UE 5.4 for engine version and it will require an AES key (google) since the packages are encrypted. I found the ini files inside of pakchunk0-Windows.pak but for you it should be pakchunk0-Switch.pak. You're trying to export those ini files, look for DoF settings in them, make your changes and then make a new package (pak/ucas/utoc) and pop it into your ~mods folder to load with layeredFS.

For example, my DefaultDevicesProfiles.ini has "+CVars=r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0" in it for graphics presets, so it will look a little different for you, but if you are having trouble, I can take a look at your ini files.

Could anyone else interested give this a shot on their copy? We both tried it and it seems better but not perfect, I think it looks a bit smoother but I'm not really sure:

Every DoF and motion blur setting is set to 0/false, TAA is off, etc any little optimization I could do I did, this game also uses dynamic resolution which can cause some blurriness as well but I also think it’s just a game of Switch being simply not up to the task of running this well. I think perhaps disabling dynamic resolution might help and just lock it to 900p on docked and 720p on handheld might help but then it might suffer from some frame rate dipping too which I suppose can be helped with OC…

Thx, for your detailed explanation - I will try this later

For testing, I used Sudachi (a Yuzu fork) and slightly increased the graphics settings.
2× (2160p), SMAA, 16× – things like that. Here's the comparison:

It seems like they added an additional static blurred bar at the top - or am I going crazy?

And thanks again, @blashy101! You and your friend did a great job!

Dynamic resolution is set in the ini files found in pakchunk0.pak
tbh - I never added pak-files etc.

At home I like to play games in emulators and put the savefiles back on my switch for playing mobil.

Oh the credit goes to OP for testing this initially with me, my bad, and yeah that does look significantly better but there is certainly some sort of blurred area at the top that is beyond me on how to remove.
