I am at around 55 hours of gameplay. The last hours I had to push on the main story.
I have arount 210 save states (save often - don't wanna miss anything)
When I finished the main story (propably tomorrow, as I cannot play today) I am going to reload the outermost possible save state and finish all side quests.
And after that I am gonna play a pure evil close combat guy.
Now playing a neutral - good female sniper/lockpicking/science girl.
The first run seems to be the longest play though...I want to stress how quick I am gonna be with my close quarter guy afterwards (when I don't have to watch for completeness)

EDIT: I am just about to get the G.E.C:K., for anyone interested

Apparantly if you find a human follower, they can carry tonnes of stuff for you. Its like you have a "mule" to hock your shit around...

Oh.. I didn't know you could have followers.. how do you get one?

Well, with some perks I can now carry 290

25 hours now, level 13, just got to Rivet City, GOTY to me

THere are 9 followers but only 8 can carry items for you (the other one is dogmeat the dog)

I'm not sure where they all are, I've found one in the ghoul city thingy under the museum of history. He costs 2000 caps to take him on or you can kill a nice old lady

& the guy hands over his contract.

Another one is jericho, hes in megaton. He's a bad character so you need bad karma to get him to expose the dialouge options that lead to him being your follower. Not managed it yet.

The Prima Guide says there are 7 more, not read where they all at cos I was hoping on randomly encountering them. I know one of them is a fricken super mutant!! And for some reason, you need GOOD karma to get him? Not sure where he is btu I bet he's a kickass companion....

Also, you can only have one follower at a time except with dogmeat. You can have him & a "human" follower.

Me, Dogmeat & the supermutant would make a pretty kick-ass wasteland exploration team!

just finished the game this night...
took me only 68 Hours to rush the main quest...I am going to play the other side quests too.
I am fully satisfied with the ending...no problems as some people have.
Took me around 250 save slots and somehow have good karma (I really wanted to be neutral...damn paladin behaviour)
Now I look forward in all the fun blowing everything up with all the stuff I collected during play :-)
The last mission is awesome, just take your most precious and effective weapons with you...there is no better point (except earlier in the main quest) to use your guns than now...
except mines...there really is no use for 'em then...
So just use them up on your play through. Don't spare to much of your weapons or ammo, you will get plenty near the end of the main quest.
Greatest game ever (since wasteland)

Whos still playing?

I am, done all but one sidequest now & am cracking on with main quest. Put about 75 hours in so far.

Any cool secrets people have found?? Anybody seen the UFO crash yet?

Is there any way of seeing your total completion? Like a 100% reward or at least some notification that everything has been done?

There are Main questes & side quests but there are also what the Prima guide call "freeform quests" & theres loads!

Oh yeah,

Just beat the game...and boy was it good. I cant wait for the dlc. I have a couple of questions though. Where can you find dogmeat (your dog partner)? How do you diffuse the bomb in megaton? once you beat the game it takes you back to your last save. Do you have to go back to the last save in which you weren't doing the last mission? I cant seem to walk back out of the room. Thanks if you answer my question.

Sorry to necro-post (well, not quite, but still...), but I'm having an absolute blast with this game. Got it for Xmas, and I've been playing it non-stop since then.
I've just been wondering around, trying to scrape some money together to style my house in Megaton.
Couple of questions:
Just how many vaults are there in the wasteland!?
How do you join the Brotherhood of Steel (if it's part of the main quest, just say so rahter than spoiling it)?
Oh and what's the best way of making money?

1. I'm not quite sure (and I don't want to check my map), but there are a couple more vaults. 2 or 3 more
2. Err... if you follow the main quest, you'll see. I don't suggest you do the main quest (or at least don't rush it), as the game will actually end.
3. Just take a lot of weapons and just sell them.

There are five vaults. And as he said, take weapons, repair them, sell them. Sell ammo for guns you don't use, make sure you grab objects of high value like cartons of cigarettes and sell those two. What seem like minor amounts stack up over time.

Yeah, thanks very much for the advice. Currently kind of annoyed, as it turns out you get Dogmeat at the scrapyard, but I went straight through there without finding anything earlier. Apparently this means I have to wait for a random encounter to recruit him

Not necessarly. I saw I had the Scrapyard on my map too, and at first I worried that I missed him. But after snooping around for about 5 minutes I found him. Just listen for gunshots and death, that means he's nearby.
