Fake Japanese GB games?

I've been seeing some very nice prices on Japanese GB games on eBay - titles that would normally sell for more $$ in the US. Is there a chance these are fake games? Are they worth buying?

An example: $20 for these three Japanese Kirby games, including international shipping:

I imagine the production and distribution of games in Japan versus the US is the main factor in price, but I can't say for certain. It's true for a lot of older games, though; quite a few SFC, GB/C, and N64 games I've looked at, at the very least. Regardless, I doubt they're counterfeits.

Usually Japanese versions tend to come cheaper, so it's no surprise. There is a possibility that they are fake, though.

But they're all playable on US systems, right? I don't mind playing less for a Japanese game as long as it works. I like the novelty of it

Nope! No region lock. The actual Gameboy cartridge only contains two values for the region: Japan, and Non-Japan. These don't have any purpose, though.
