I remember this being a big problem last year around Christmas time but does anyone know if it is still a big problem? I want to get my brother the Zelda special edition and a seller on eBay has it for only $124.99 (Link). I know that it seems like too good of a deal but the seller has sold a lot of them and I have contacted the buyers and they have told me that they are legit. Anyone have any opinions on whether or not to order from eBay?

first off, they are not "fake" in the sense that they knock-off systems. what is fake about them is the box and the case. these systems have been case modded with the what was produced as a limited edition gold zelda triforce edition. the quality of the cases from dealextreme.com (if this seller is using those) is ok. the colour is pretty close to the original and the frames for both displays is close, but not perfect.

the plastic is a bit softer than the original oem nintendo cases and you will most undoubtedly experience a "broken" hinge issue within 6 months of usage. I can state this as a fact considering that all 5 the case mods that I did for people with this particular case experienced this problem with their systems.

you're probably better off just picking up a crimson or cobalt/black system that has an oem case in my opinion.

Lol, i quote from the website:

The Seller mentions the fact its a DS three times? XD
And System Triangle?
Im sure if it was legit it would say "Tri-Force" on it somewhere? XD
Anyways, you know its not REALLY legit, so yeah.
Just me nit picking XD
