My EZFlash Jr has randomly stopped working after being in storage for 2-3 months. It was in dry, waterproof plastic container with the rest of my GB carts and hasn't been knocked about.

When it starts up, it shows a black bar + (R) instead of Nintendo logo on boot.

I have tried the following to debug it:
- checked the SD card (looks fine, was able to read and write files from it)
- reformatted the SD card
- used a different SD card (put fresh 1.04 firmware on it, didn't work)
- checked the cart for any obvious physical issues - none
- cleaned the pins with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud
- tested in multiple consoles - none work - even consoles where the cart used to work
- tried removing, reseating, and starting the cart without the cell battery - none helped
- tried using fresh AAs

I bought the cart from an official UK reseller (fusioncorp.inc) on ebay.co.uk but the seller has since deleted their eBay account so I can't get in contact with them.

I'm really regretting getting the cheap option and wish I'd just sprung for an Everdrive to begin with.

Has anyone been able to fix this without doing anything too involved?

Thank you for replying. By "Re-solder the main control chip", do you mean I need to reflow it?

Why would this have happened?

Currently can not determine what causes, see your description of the storage environment is also very standard.

According to the fault status, this fault typically corresponds to repair guide #3.

Just an update on this: I was able to track down the reseller after all. It looks like they just rebranded their eBay account to senkogames and I was able to get in contact with them through the new account name. Senkogames were extremely helpful and ended up allowing me to return the faulty cart for a full refund.

So in the end, it worked out. Many thanks to senkogames for helping me sort this!

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
