I going to put a lot of GBA roms on my EZFIV and one of them will be the Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Fire Red but I remember ages ago there was a problem in getting the clock to run. Is this still a problem that needs an IPS file?

The EZ-IV has no clock. You can patch Ruby and Sapphire with GBATA to enable the time based events without the clock, but I don't think there is a patch for Emerald. AFAIK, Fire Red and Leaf Green didn't use a clock.

I've been out of loop with Pokemon for ages. Does the GBA games still use the whole "Night/Day" feature where more pokemon are available during the night/day?
