I just got around to testing Pokemon Prism again and it seems to be working perfectly now on FW5 105K RC EZ Flash Jr. Yay! I asked about this a few months back and then things went OT as they tend to do in monster threads....

RTC is still off and requires some difficult precise work. Every 24 hours your timer is wrong by 5 seconds and multiple saves still appear to skew it. Every 12 days you lose 1 minute from your time across all pokemon games too, so it appears to work perfectly until you play for a while

Across all pokemon games too??? omg, I cannot play my beloved Pocket Monsters Midori anymore??????

LOL, nice one. (It's obviously only affecting games that use the RTC.)
A few years from now, trust me guys, we're going to hear on the news the story of a man from Brazil who marries a Pokémon Green cartridge. XD

Oh stop it, you

Dude. Come on, this is getting old.
Why the hate? It's a really good game, no seariously, a real underdog!

...and I keep thinking the contrast of the selected game and game name font is to low... OP please change that, preatty please?

P.S. I have a gold Game Boy Light

Seems like it uses a not so accurate oscillator, this can not be fixed unless you calibrate every crystal used or buy more expensive crystal. If you want to have 5x the accuracy the device would become 1 to 2$ more expensive. You can also just manually change the clock twice a year to fix the problem.

No, it's off on all carts, as aaaaaaa already pointed out, the entire method of handling the RTC is not detailed enough and doesn't react correctly to basically any of the RTC tests performed by the test game from github, which all carts seem to respond the same. So it's a fundemental software issue not a hardware one. Though they do seem to keep the timer pretty balanced for the most part since it's only losing 1 minute every 12 days, which isn't the end of the world but it does skew and resetting the clock in some games is pretty cumbersome.

tl;dr it's not the crystal

Thats weird, a solution would be to start a save game on all your pokemon games and change the rtc settings for the cart :rofl2:.

I'm still waiting for the RTC to be fixed so I can play pokemon prism without jumping months/years everytime I save. Are they still working on fixing the RTC?

I am playing Pokémon Puzzle Challenge on EZflash jr and I get weird glitchy save behavior.
To recreate the bug:
In the start menu go to
  1. "1 Player"
  2. After that to "Puzzle"
  3. Play a couple of rounds until you get forced back to the puzzle overview
Now in the puzzle overview a lot of random puzzles are marked as completed. Can someone replicate this bug?
I even tried to use it on a new sd card but no luck.

I had that problem, updating to one of the 1.05 versions fixed it.

Yeah I don't blame you for wanting to wait, but as far as ezflash's last post they are still working on it yeah and there'll be something like an appended .RTC file for games with RTC and hopefully we'll have perfect RTC with the flash cart by the time they're done :D

What SD card are you using? FW5 doesn't work on my microsd card. EZflash says that it is too slow, so that is why I am asking.
I'm not the person you were asking but I've been using a Toshiba 4GB Class 4 I got from a New Nintendo 3DS without issues, I've also tested a Samsung 32GB Class 10 A2 and two SanDisk 64GB Class 10 A1 and A2 and they both worked.
Likely anything that's rated to be above Class 4 will work just fine, you do get small loading gains from going with a faster Class 10 (or even an A1) over something like a Class 4, but it's barely a few seconds here or there you're shaving off.

Hmm, than my microsd card isn't the problem since I use Sandisk Ultra 16gb with A1 and 10 marking.
Really weird that FW5 doesn't work on my ezflash jr
