You can get older versions http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12&start=0 if you want but yeah EZClient or nothing really, I have often thought it would be nice to reverse engineer the relevant software but that is a bit outside my comfort zone (it would include driver level reverse engineering and trying to figure out what the original and subsequent coders were doing is likely to be harder still) not to mention newer versions of windows tend to be a bit harsh .
I tend to use virtualbox if I want a full emulation (let us nod and say we did rather than go into the largely irrelevant specifics here as it pertains to virtualisation) but I still have XP machines (got other legacy stuff that is easier with it as do clients). For this sort of thing I have never tried it but VMware Player and maybe QEMU or Virtual PC (not sure what goes here right now) are about your only real alternatives and I can not see any of them offering a compelling reason to opt for them if you have virtualbox working (vmware and virtual PC will probably see you jump through a few hoops just to get them as well).
"was successful just a bit of a hassle"
If you mean trying to share the USB across and getting it all installed inside the machine that should largely be done as long as you did not revert it to an earlier state
I still have mine and I know several people still do have theirs- I imagine have them sitting around in draws/boxes though or otherwise do not tend to participate in forums not to mention you can run just about everything well and with slightly less hassle should you have an EZ4 or something along those lines.
Afraid the only way you can find an EZ2 these days (I assume you mean this cart rather than EZFA 2 or something) is if someone finds one and offers it for sale. Price varies somewhat on the rare occasions they appear but if you can enjoy a new game on the sale of a 256Mbit one you are doing it wrong.
