Hacking Ez-flash 4 lite setup help

can someone help me setup my ez-flash 4 lite? 1. what needs to be in the root of the micro sd? 2.what software do i need if any? 3.does there need to be any other files in the micro sd that's not in the root?

Please help...it might be a noobish question

1) There is a file called ezfla_up.bin, this is the loader update. Put that on the root and hold R when powering on (DS or GBA mode it does not matter) and then once it is updated you can delete it. Keep a copy though as you will need it to make new skins.
Also there should be a folder called saver but EZ4Client should make it.

2) You need EZ4client, I made a pack containing everything (including the loader) a few days back:

It patches GBA and DS roms.

3) I would make a data folder, it is not needed for DS roms or the cart but a lot of homebrew now uses this folder (it was a bit of a mess before so people now often make their apps able to use that folder instead)

does the EZ-flash 4 play gba games? if so it won't load mario kart.gba

The EZ4 and EZ4 lite (original) have 16 megabytes of PSRAM and 32 Megabytes of NOR memory. The largest roms are 32 megabytes but most are 16 or less.
The EZ4 lite deluxe has 32 megabytes of PSRAM and 48 of NOR.

Both of these should be able to run just about every game out that (give or take a bit of patching (other than with EZ4Client) for a handful of them).

The EZ4 lite compact was made cheap because it lacked the expensive memory but can still play the smaller games (4 megabytes/32megabits). Mario kart should still fit that though.
If you have one of these I assume you updated the loader (GBA support was originally not there but added in a later loader release).

EZ4 client automatically trims roms (there is no such thing as safe trimming for the GBA so no need to worry there) but GBATA has the option along with most other tools for GBA roms.
