I'm pretty sure there's a homebrew app that you can use to extract .zip files on the DS. What's it called?

Also how long would it take to extract an entire DS ROM on the DS?

There's DSCompress, but honestly I'd expect it to fail when trying to uncompress such a large file.

DSLinux can also unzip files, but only if you have slot-2 RAM.

+1 to everyone so far (not sure about zlib though), can I suggest you look at the rom ripping guide I put together way back when if you are really interested in saving space:

Also zipping tends only to take care of the stuff that gets dropped when trimming so gains are never likely to be that worthwhile. Couple this with the fact that you still need about 100 megs all in all to extract to and it gets pointless very quickly.
