Before any smartass attack happens in this thread:

Yes, I know Creddiar worked on this. No info on how he did it was given.
His site is all broken and most of the files can't be retrived.

Now since this is out of the way.

When examing the DK TF decrypted and extracted files from a Loadiine ready backup, the only possible files for soundtrack to be in are those in:

Content\Worlds

All those files are compressed in .pak files.
I've already tried SARC Extractor
I've already tried SZS extractor.

Any ideas how to extract this files?

EDIT: Found this tool to unpak pak files from Tropical Freeze
http://www.metroid2002.com/retromodding/wiki/PAK_(Tropical_Freeze)
Still, I can't find any music file.

EDIT 2: Found out that audio and sound files are stored as CSMP files and CAUD files.

Any one could share some light here how to play those?

Looking into doing it myself.

I've managed to play the files using an Audacity fork by jackoalan. With his tool I'm able to convert those to WAV.
Still I don't understand why VGMStream can't play it.

The VGMStream claims it can play DSPADPCM. I'm using the latest build 1050, and it won't play with foobar.

Have you tried?

Here are ALL the audio files from the game:

content.7z

As mentioned before all the music is two channels and simply works by added .ddsp to it.
For single channel files you add .dsp for any other channel count there is no easy way to play them right now.

If this post suggests you need to rename .CMPS files to .DDSP or .DSP, this is just false. Or maybe I'm getting it wrong.

Also VideoGameSoundConverter can't convert those.
So the audacity fork is the only way to play the CSMP files.

This is what was reported to work, previously.

Horn Top Hop's definitely not there. It should be one of the Alps tracks.

If it's not in the regular music folder then the only thing I can think of is if it's played from a sound effect file for some reason. It wouldn't be the first time Retro did that, since that's how Metroid Prime 2's title screen music works too...

The sound effect format used by Prime 3 and the first DKCR is CSMP; does Tropical Freeze still use the same format? If so, it's really simple to convert to dsp; just chop off the first 64 bytes and voila.

I'd really like to get to look through the game's other files as well, so I'm interested to know how you got these, if you can share? I love this game's soundtrack so I very much appreciate the music rips either way!

This is what was reported to work, previously.

That method works for CSMP from MP3 and DKCR, not DKCTF. DKCTF's CSMP format is slightly updated. That's why nothing will play or convert it by default. jackoalan's Audacity has explicit support for every audio format from every Retro game, including Tropical Freeze, so I would recommend just using that.

About CSMP files are the real sound files (foobar doesn't seem to be able to play -and convert- those CAUD files as it does with CSMP ones, despite having those plugins: http://prntscr.com/1kd6l8i). If someday someone make a plugin for foobar which make it recognise them, lemme know.

I extracted them from switch version with this tool you described and wow, such epic OST this game have.

So, give foobar another chance with those plugins and you'll be fine.

See ya.

It's been forever since I wrote that.
I have no memory of how I did it in the end but right now I have the files but in .wav which was the solution I've found to keep it with the highest possible quality while being able to stream it to my AV receiver over DLNA.

The soundtrack is indeed fantastic.

MapLevel.pak has entire soundtrack of the game, other files have just some voices and sfx.

PakTool is very nice tool for that, btw.

Idk if that tool could recover files original names, so, save time on renaming them.

Very epic OST indeed, one of my favorites, behind Aquatic Ambience (DKC1 Nes), Mario Galaxy's OST, and Dire Dire Docks (SM 64).

I'm trying to use PakTool to get the voice clips, but it refuses to open no matter what I do. This is for the Switch version by the way.
