Hacking External hard drive plugged in during jailbreak

I tend to leave my extended storage drive connected at all times. I sometimes get a KP during the JB process at which time I will unplug it until I have a successful JB and then ill plug it in and let it scan. Most of the time it just works first time without unplugging the drive.

EDIT: Just updated my setup to use an ESP32-S2 with Auto USB by Stooged, so far i have had KP every time unless i unplug the extended storage drive first.

Do you also leave the JB USB drive unplugged before/after jailbreaking? Or is that always plugged into one of the available USB ports?

Ps4 off
Nothing plugged in
Ps4 on
Run exploit plug in usb thumb drive left port when asked
After goldhen loads I unplug thumb drive
Back out to main screen
Plug in usb hdd into right port
Go make a coffee
Use ps4 after hdd icon is gone
Rest mode leaves hdd plugged in
Power off unplug hdd after power is off
Repeat steps


That make sense?

I am now having successful JB's using @Prb & @Leeful exploit menu along with Stooges Auto USB esp32 files. I can leave my extended drive connected and the JB works fine now 95% of the time.

If you are running the goldhen jailbreak on firmware 9.0, then you need to remove the usb drive right after each jailbreak.

On 5.05, I always leave mine plugged in. Never get a kp coming back from rest mode, and never turning on if I wait a couple minutes.

Sorry to revive this, but I was wondering how you can jb with HDD plugged in and avoid the kernel panic? Does the ESP32 need to be in the left USB and the HDD in the right?
