So I have soft-modded my wii just fine, and everything runs great. I have a 500gb external Western Digital hard drive that i use for running the backups of my games that i have split into the WBFS partition and an NTFS partition. The WBFS partition has absolutely no issues. My problem is that every time i use ANY program to play my backups, the next time I turn on my wii and try to open the program to play my games it hangs on "initializing USB device". When this occurs i reformat the NTFS side (I have also tried FAT32 and same thing happens) and it then loads just fine. Is there anything i can do to not have to re-format the NTFS side each time i wish to play my backups?

**NOTES**
All of my games are located on the WBFS side, i use the NTFS side ONLY for backing up my music on my computer and would prefer to not completely be rid of it. I am assuming that each time i shut my wii off it does not cleanly un-mount the partition causing the issue.

Solution
I have tried removing all partitions and creating one wbfs, and the issue still persists so I am convinced the hard drive is the problem. Just gonna bite the bullet and buy a different one.

Try returning to the home menu before you power off. It's not a fix, but it might solve the issue until you find out how to fix it.

If you use configurable USB loader, try setting the wbfs partition as the default.

Hi,
Do you know if u can create a partition on a drive without losing anything already on it?

I have stuff on my 500gb that I want to keep. It's in ntfs format but won't work with usbloader gx.. It says I need to format.
I thought usbloader gx supported ntfs?
Anyway I'd like to create a partition on my drives space in wbfs and then copy my games across to it... Unless someone knows how to get usbloader gx to read from my ntfs drive

Thanks

I did try returning to the home menu to see if that would help it and it didn't seem to work. The configurable USB loader pulls up the wbfs partition each time i load it, and even when i set it to default it seems to touch the fat32 or ntfs side as well forcing me to reformat that side.

@Bloodangel
Use a partitioning program such as acronis disk director to resize your ntfs partition to something a bit smaller and create a new volume with the new un-formatted space and format using wbfs manager.
