Hacking Experience With Seagate Freeagent Go?

Does anyone here have one? I need to know if they have any spindown issues and if they're compatible. In addition, a link to a compatibility list for usb hardrives for usbloader GX would be nice.

I use the 320Gb with USB Loader GX. There should have been some software that came pre-loaded on the harddrive. Run that and adjust the power settings so that spindown is OFF. If you don't already have the software on your harddrive, you can get it from the Seagate website. I have zero issues with this harddrive and USB Loader GX.

I also have a 250gb freeagent go, the white/silver looks great with the Wii, mine lays down and it looks nice on top like it belongs. Turned off the spindown with the seagate software and it works great.

me too! very easy to shut off spin down - just change one option via the software

Last question, does it matter in which order I do this? Do I format it in WBFS manager first and then shut down spindown, or do I do it the other way around? Does it matter?

It shouldn't matter what order you do things in. Personally, I turned off the spindown before formatting to WBFS.

My experience is with the 500gb models, and they are simply the smallest, most reliable, and error-free drives for USB Loaders. If you get the Seagate Freeagent Go, follow these tips in order.

Install Seagate Manager software (comes loaded on the drive) to your PC. If for some reason you delete or can't find the software, you can download it on Seagate's website. Connect your drive, and let windows fully recognize it, assigning it a proper drive letter. Then use Seagate Manager to set the power saving/standby to NEVER (now your drive will never fall asleep or freeze). Download the free program Compuapps Swissknife, and use it to format the drive to FAT32. Download WBFS Manager 3.0 and install to your PC. Open WBFS Manager, plug in your drive, press "refresh drive list," and select your drive letter from the pull-down list. Then press FORMAT, to make your FAT32 partition into WBFS. I strongly suggest adding a game using your PC first if possible, so drag an iso into the right hand box and select add. Plug it into your Wii, pick a loader, and it should work perfectly with no spin down or errors.

I highly recommend the Seagate Freeagent Go series to everyone. I have bought three now, and have no problems/compatibility issues at all.

I have a 500GB Model that is WBFS only and it works fine for me, my friends has the same 500GB formated half WBFS and half FAT32 and his works fine all the time as well. The only issues I ran into even after disabling the power save mode was in Guitar hero it was hang up for a second while it looked like it was accessing the disc. I had been using CIOS38 Rev10 with Configurable USB loadser, I installed 222/223 and have setup configurable USBloader to load this using the mload222 setting and that seems to have solved the problem I'm not sure if this was a problem specific to that drive or to rev10 though.
