I just installed a hand full of games to my HDD and I see this error mid game. The drive is new, and it is one of those self powered drives. Is a y cable going to help my any?

Chances are it will help you.

The Wii U doesn't deliver a lot of power, so a Y cable is fine.

Wow so wired, I added a power calbe and now I get another mess 3033 that clealy says, not enough power. So I removed the y splitter and now this message remains. Before using the y splitter I was not getting a clear errors. Obviosly adding and removeing a y-splitter is not going to make any changes. Going to buy another encloser as this is is USB 3.0. So maybe its having issues with that, The new one is 2.0, hope that helps.

The console can be rather picky when it come to external drive with encloser. Mine is just sata to usb Y cable for the SSD, no encloser.
